Copperhead Gin, 70cl

Produced at Japan's Kyoto Distillery, Ki No Bi is the first gin to be made in the city. Made with a rice spirit and botanicals including yellow yuzu, Japanese cypress, green tea, bamboo and sanso berries (Japanese peppercorn), this has classic juniper notes which complement the Japanese botanicals. With a warming and spicy finish, this will make a delicious G&T.

The Maritime Gin is an infusion of botanicals with 5 different types of seaweed, all locally sourced. Some of the botanicals are dried and others blast chilled, with the more delicate placed in Méabh’s vapour tray. Some of the ingredients are so unusual, harvesting can only take place when there is a full moon, with the foraging at times extremely hazardous, as the tide means everything.

A gin with a sense of place, being made with Isle of Wight rock samphire and Boadicea hops alongside juniper, coriander seeds, fresh lemon zest, grains of paradise, angelica, liquorice, orris and elderflower.

Monkey 47 is your chance to enjoy the hard graft that comes from painstakingly matching 47 different botanicals. The botanicals chosen work in perfect harmony with each other and include everything from the expectation of ripe juniper berries to interesting notes of Ceylon cinnamon, Acorus calamus lemon balm and verbena. Resplendent in straw-yellow, Boudier’s Saffron gin places premium, luxurious saffron at its heart. Gabriel Boudier’s micro-distillery is known for the quality of its work and each Boudier’s Saffron gin batch is handcrafted using natural botanicals creating its delicately spicy character. Juniper is of course in there with notes of iris, angelica, orange peels and interesting fennel, delivering the liquorice aniseed notes which last long after drinking. The colour stands out but the flavour is even more memorable.

The clue’s in the name with this one, Balvenie Doublewood Single Malt gets its name from the interesting distillation process, involving distillation in two woods. The maturation process involves moving the whisky from a traditional oak whisky cask to a Spanish oak sherry cask, adding more depth to its flavour and creating its warm, rounded character. Sweet fruit and sherry notes are apparent in its scent and the taste is mellow for a single malt, the sherry at work once more, with nuttiness and cinnamon notes building too.

The Warner Edwards distillers in Northamptonshire have brought us another flavour of excellent gin - they have been prolific since their start in 2012. This time, they've gone regal and created Rhubarb Gin, , as well as their Harrington Dry Gin. They also add just enough sugar to balance out the acidity from the rhubarb, producing a spirit with plenty of sweetness and some subtle, enjoyably sour notes emanate from the rhubarb.

Four Pillars Rare Dry Gin is made in a small distillery in Yarra Valley, Australia. Everything the Four Pillars distillers make is based around their four pillars - the still, the water, the botanicals and love. It's sort of a bit like the four elements of hip hop. Pillar 1 - The Four Pillars copper-pot still is called Wilma. Pillar 2 - The water they use from Yarra Valley is triple filtered. Pillar 3 - They use some local botanicals (Tasmanian pepperberry, lemon myrtle), some exotic botanicals (cinnamon, cardamom, coriander seeds and star anise) and some classic botanicals (juniper, lavender, angelica root), as well as whole oranges to give Four Pillars Gin its flavour profile. Pillar 4 - The distillers love what they do and love what they have made. It all adds up to a vibrant Australian gin which stands out in cocktails, but tastes just superb neat.

24 botanicals are carefully chosen for their uniquity , that work together in unison to afford a romantic , complex flavour. Fresh floral and clarifying citrus notes are grounded by earthy and spicy cassia bark and cubeb , and a smooth finish is achieved with the help of local honey.
