Stormy by name, stormy by nature Talisker Storm is a youthful whisky which has the characteristics of the Talisker distillery as well as smoky notes and an interestingly complex flavour profile. An initially briny nose leads into banana, citrus and white pepper notes. This multi-faceted nose leads into a similar palate, with additional wood smoke and biting chilli heat. It ends on a dry note, satisfying and welcome.
Produced by the Teeling Whiskey Company, this is a delicious small-batch blend with a very high malt content. Interestingly enough, it's also been matured in rum casks for added spice.
First launched in 2008, The Dalmore 12 Year Old is a single malt rich in coffee and toasty warm notes. Spicy and thick in the mouth, it’s a very rich malt which stands out amongst its peers. Evoking the relaxed nature of a Western American coffee house, the nose of this malt is rich in roasting coffee beans, nuttiness and sweet malt. The palate is different, rich in Seville marmalade, wintry spice and cocoa drawing into a medium finish that ensures you go back for another sip.
The Dalmore 15 Year Old first hit the market in 2007 and benefits from maturation in apostoles, amoroso and matusalem sherry casks. The chocolate that The Dalmore is known for is present with abundance alongside zesty orange and wintry spices. The nose is simply melting with orange zest and cocoa, with floral notes adding a further character dimension. A medium, sweet taste on the palate evokes the flavour of Blue Curacao and bitter chocolate, with stem ginger syrup and warming citrus present too.
This 18 Year Old offering from The Dalmore Distillery is a Highland whisky of much note. Rich and fruity with more than a little spice, chocolate and orange are the true stars of this malt, making it a wonderfully wintry and festive choice. The nose is rich with vanilla, orange zest and floral potpourri. The palate is wonderfully warming and perfect for sipping by the side of an open fire, chocolate raisins, sherry and pepper evoking this image. Cocoa-rich and melt in the mouth.

Tokinoka Black is a Japanese whisky that was created by Akito Ueda, master blender at the White Oak distillery. Tomintoul is a young and enjoyable single malt, with just 10 years spent maturing. Known as the gentle dram, Tomintoul has been crafted and matured in bourbon casks delivering a flavour which is clean yet creamy and well-balanced. On the nose you’ll get toffee-laced citrus with a light hint of raisin and on tasting the palate is truly clean, with sweetness balanced gently with oak spice. The spicy notes linger into the finish, providing a peppy end note.
We're big fans of white Port, and of whisky obviously, but it's not too often that the two meet, so this rare occasion is most welcome! Distilled at Tomintoul in 2008, this 14-year-old single-malt Scotch was finished in white Port casks, imparting delicious sweet, vinous notes to the elegant malt at its core.

We assume that this new no age statement peated Tomintoul must be similar to the Old Ballantruan but at a reduced strength. Either way , at this price it must be worth a punt for the peatsters amongst you .
Tullamore Dew is one of those famous Irish whiskies we all know and love. Classic flavour notes come through, with fruit and malt taking centre stage. An interesting twist on Woodford Reserve's classic straight bourbon. The whiskey is first matured in new charred white oak barrels, as usual, but before bottling is transferred to special heavily toasted, lightly charred finishing barrel. WhistlePig is a fantastic brand of straight rye whisk(e)y which is distilled and initially matured in Canada before being aged further, at the WhistlePig Farm in Vermont. The Master Distiller for WhistlePig was Dave Pickerell, who was the Master Distiller for Maker's Mark for 14 years, Sadly now deceased.
Their 10 year old straight rye is made with 100% rye and delivers a full-on flavour profile of clove, mint, barrel char, creamy caramels and butterscotch. Properly excellent stuff.
