Herradura Plata is a smooth silver tequila, aged for just 45 days and offering up a welcome cleanliness on the palate. The ageing means that there’s a hint of oak in the flavour but its key note are refreshing agave which is enhanced by tangy citrus. One of the newer offerings from the famous Jose Cuervo range, Jose Cuervo Reserva da le Familia Blanco is an exceptional new silver tequila. Limited edition, hand signed, hand dipped and corked, each bottle of Reserva Blanco is highly sought after and it’s easy to see why. The strength of quality agave comes through in the nose, closely followed by charred vegetables and hints at linseed oil. The flavour keeps the vegetable notes alive but teams them with fresh pear and of course the sweetness of agave. Pepper only comes through towards the end but it strong and satisfying.

Jose Cuervo Silver 1800 is a 100% agave tequila which rests in ex-American whisky casks and benefits from the depths of both the oak and the whiskey flavours coming through. Chargrilled vegetables and celery notes come through in the nose which then leads into a flavour which allows the agave to take centre stage. La Chica Silver (House) La Chica Silver Tequila which originates from Mexico is a very pure and smooth tequila. It is produced traditionally from distilled cactus juice that produces a spirit of 38%abv. La Chica Silver Tequila is great to sip and savour or ideal as a shooter, in a Margarita or other cocktails.

Ocho 8 Blanco is a limited edition silver tequila which is refreshing and clean on the nose. Cedar, mint and spice all come through and there’s a satisfying earthiness to this tequila and you taste. Pepper and mint work in tandem to deliver hot and cool hits of flavour and they also work alongside the sweetness offered by agave and hints of raspberry. The finish lingers with those raspberry notes at the centre but still a whisper of that spicy pepper too.

Olmeca Altos Plata has been described as the perfect choice for a margarita and its 100% agave content delivers a satisfying sweetness. On opening its white pepper, sea salt and vegetal notes which come through strongly, with agave in the background. This changes when you taste as the viscous feel on the palate is full of sweet agave, notes of lime, nutmeg, salt and hot white pepper. An extraordinary premium 100% agave Tequila from the masters at Patrón. El Cielo was distilled four times in small batches using the smallest copper pot still at Hacienda Patrón to concentrate and unlock the naturally sweet flavours of agave. The bottle design was inspired by the volcanic tahona stone used to produce the Tequila, and we have to say the packaging is very sophisticated. Sip this one neat, or serve over ice with a slice of orange. Rich and sweet cooked agave notes are front and centre with bright citrus, black peppercorn, cedar, butterscotch, and wet stones.

One of the premium offerings from the famous Patron tequila distillery, Gran Patron Platinum uses the finest blue agave grown in the highlands of Jalisco. Triple distilled and then rested for a short time in oak tanks, Gran Patron Platinum is wonderfully smooth and full-bodied. The nose is full of that fresh agave teamed with citrus and fresh fruit and the flavour follows suit with the agave taking centre stage, citrus and fruit following on. Its finish is long and spiced with white pepper.

Fabrica de Tequilas produced and distilled this blanco Tequila using agave cooked for 10 hours in steam-powered autoclaves. After the addition of special yeast, the batch was then fermented and moved into stainless steel pots for double distillation. To blend this blanco, Rooster Rojo used water filtered through Mexican silver, creating its sumptuously smooth profile.

Tapatio Blanco is one of those choice silver tequilas that has an exceptional flavour which you’ll find hard to stop sipping.
